Multisound Electronic Bird Repeller

The Multisound audible bird repeller provides a very effective solution for removing unwanted birds in environments such as farms, airports, harbours etc. It achieves this by playing high quality digital recordings of various predatory birds. The Bird scarer device will disperse harmful birds in a natural way, without creating nuisance to livestock or pets.

NOTE: The repeller makes a loud noise and is not suitable in a built up area.

The electronic bird deterrent plays the sounds of other predatory birds and also sounds of the same species in distress, creating alarm and removing harmful birds from all those places in need of protection. The area covered is up to 1 acre.

For the best results, recordings of fear and alarm typical of many bird species are stored for fast excellent results. The playback of the bird songs follows random times and reduces the chance that the birds can get used to it. Also the bird deterrent has pre-programmed mixes of different bird species.

The electronic bird deterrent can set to play from 10 seconds – 20 minutes in duration. The pause between play cycles can be set from 0 seconds (continuous) to 30 minutes. Made in Italy.

Sentinel Ultrasonic Bird, Pigeon, Fox, Cat & Pest Repeller installation instructions and user guide

The Sentinel MKII Ultrasonic Pest repeller is weatherproof and designed for indoor or outdoor use. If using outdoors, the plug-in mains power adaptor MUST be plugged into a mains socket inside a building and never exposed to dampness or moisture. Do not remove the front cover of the unit as this will damage the weatherproof seal.

The Ultrasonic repeller is a fully adjustable, self contained module with frequency ranging from approx. 8kHz to 40kHz. At least 50% of this spectrum is in an audible frequency range and can be heard by humans, but the unit can be adjusted to a higher frequency to generate a silent Ultrasonic tone. Most of the successes reported with deterring birds, Pigeons, Mice, Rats, Cats, Dogs, vermin and pests in general have been achieved with unit set to the higher ultrasonic frequencies (silent), so it is sometimes best to experiment with the setting as many different local environmental factors and animal breeding / feeding cycles can effect the overall effectiveness. The Sentinel modules are not designed to scare animals or birds, but rather to create and maintain an environment that is uncomfortable which can cause them to move on and avoid the area.

The ultrasonic repeller can be mounted in a safe spot on a wall or fence post etc, a few feet above the ground. Ideally, the repeller should be at approximately the same height where your particular target pest habits. For example, if you are trying to repel birds on a roof, or Pigeons in a tree, the unit should be higher off the ground. But often you will need to compromise and the modules are supplied with an adjustable mounting bracket. Once set up and pointing in the general direction, the module can be adjusted on its bracket and pointed to the effected area for best results. To avoid rain water from gathering in the speaker housing and causing possible damage, pointing the module upwards should always be avoided with vertical adjustment not exceeding 10 degrees above horizontal. If mounting in warehouse, remember that girders and pillars will block the sound, so it is better to have no obstructions directly in front of the unit.

Please pay attention to the fact that ultrasonic sounds travel in straight lines (similar to that of torch light). Therefore the module should be positioned in such a way that the loudspeaker points directly at the area to be protected. Obstacles (e.g. cupboards, shelves, fences, trees and hedges) cast “shadows”, the ultrasonic sound behind these obstacles is considerably weaker, so line of sight is always the best option. The frequency can be adjusted by using the controller on the base of the casing. To change the position of the controller use a small screwdriver and twist the protruding adjustment screw carefully.

Adjusting the frequency.

If the controller is turned anti clockwise, the sound frequency will get lower all the way down to approx. 8.000 Hz and audible for human beings. The more you turn the adjustment screw in a clockwise direction the higher the sound frequency and from a certain point on, no longer audible for human beings. Every species of animal reacts differently to specific frequencies and this will have to be tested accordingly for best results.

For better results we recommend not to operate this ultrasonic device permanently but only to have it switched on during the hours that are of the most concern or to operate the device through a plugin timer set for the active periods.

The operating voltage of 12V d.c. voltage is supplied by the plug-in power supply and no other mains adaptor should be used. Every module has been tested carefully before dispatch, so if there are any concerns regarding installation or functionality please contact us for advice.

The pest are not going away: Ultrasonic sounds do present a strong annoyance for animals but it can occur in some circumstances that ultrasonic sound won’t repel animals. This may happen for the following reasons:

  • 1) The animals have to take care of their young offspring close to the ultrasonic repeller and they will not leave them despite the annoyance.
  • 2) There is a shortage of food in the area and it can only be found close to the ultrasonic repeller
  • 3) Adaptation to ultrasonic sounds. Some electronic appliances do also release ultrasonic sounds from high voltage transformers etc and animals may get used to them.
  • 4) If wild animals have left their scent marks in the area, then these animals will want to defend their territory and ultrasonic sounds may not have an immediate effect on them. In this case please clean the area where the animals have left their scent marks.

Sentinel Ultrasonic Cat / Bird / Dog Repeller with adjustable frequency

100ft range
Sentinel Ultrasonic repeller with 100ft range

The latest addition to our range of ultrasonic repellers is the Sentinel, our most powerful model yet, with a massive range of up to 100ft. The one huge advantage this model has above all the others is that the ultrasonic frequency is adjustable. It means that the user can change the frequency to repel different animals and also “fine tune” the output for the particular location. For example, if you were to mount the repeller in a large building, such as a warehouse to repel Pigeons, the acoustics inside the property might need the tone to be a little higher or lower than if mounted outside. Simply turn the dial on the base of the Sentinel ultrasonic repeller to adjust the frequency either higher or lower.

The Sentinel ultrasonic repeller produces a pulsating and aggressive ultrasonic sound similar to a siren which a bird, pigeon, cat, dog, rat, squirrel etc, perceives as extremely unpleasant and therefore avoids. Please note that it can only be set to repel one animal type at a time. In other words, it can’t repel cats and mice etc, at the same time because animals have different hearing ranges.

Bird Free Optical Fire Gel – Pigeon, Starling repellent

If Pigeons or Starlings are your bird problem and you don’t want to have bird repeller spikes stuck to your ledges or balcony, Optical Fire Gel might be a solution. Bird Free Optical Fire Gel is a long lasting, ecologically friendly repellent for bird control problems.

The Gel’s chemical formula appears to a bird as fire because the visual spectrum of Pigeons  includes ultraviolet, thus creating the optical illusion of fire and so repelling birds.

The Pigeon repellent gel is supplied in 250 g tubes including 15 x 72 mm diameter dishes to place the gel into. Depending on the severity of the bird / Pigeon problem, the dishes need to be placed between 150 – 200 mm apart. This means that at a dish spacing of 200 mm, each tube has enough gel to cover approximately 5 linear metres.

The area to be protected must be cleared of existing bird fouling prior to installing Bird Free Fire Gel. Once clear, the Bird Free product is dispensed into small plastic dishes which are then fixed into position at intervals with a silicone sealant that can be purchased from any DIY store.

Each 250g tube can treat up to 5.25 linear metres of ledge or sill.

Owl & Falcon decoys work by replicating the look and size of a real predator. Most garden birds will recognize the outline of the decoy as a bird of prey from a distance and want to keep away. But birds are not totally stupid and after a period of time, they realise that the predator hasn’t moved for a few weeks and so you might need to move it to a new position in your garden or allotment.

One of the most hated of all bird visitors are Pigeons (AKA rats with wings). If your question is: Will the decoy scare Pigeons away? Unfortunately the answer is not clear cut. For example, we get a customer who will order a decoy owl or falcon and then phone a week later and order two more. However, sometimes they email us a photograph of a pigeon sitting on the head of the decoy! With pigeons, sometimes the repeller works superbly, but at other times it doesn’t.

Having said that, of the decoys we sell, the Action Owl with a rotating head gets more consistently positive results with pigeons. It probably has something to do with the movement of the owl’s head in the breeze.

      owl & falcon decoy

All of the decoy repellers are a plastic, hollow, moulded shape with a removable bung in the base that you can fill with sand or soil to give the repeller some weight and stability. None of them come with fixings, but its not too difficult to drill a hole through the plastic and secure the bird with a couple of wood screws to a fence post etc.

Positioning any of the decoys requires a bit of thought. You have to imagine how it will look from a birds eye point of view as it approaches from 100ft in the air. Although you might want to hang the Flying Falcon decoy from a branch of a tree in your garden, when trees are in full leaf during summer, an incoming bird probably won’t be able to see it at all. If you can, find a raised location to site the decoy such as on the corner of a garage roof, or on a pole. Or even hanging from a washing line.

What’s an ultrasonic bird repeller?

We often get asked what is the difference between and audible bird repeller and an ultrasonic bird repeller?

To put it simply, “audbile sound” means that the noise the bird repeller produces can be hear by humans as well as birds. Ultrasonic sound is outside of the human hearing range and so it cannot be heard by humans.

Ultrasonic sound is so high pitched that only birds can hear it. They find it anonoying and so want to leave the area. Its not harmful, just annoying. And very effective!
